Visa Applications
Baker Tilly Hong Kong is experienced in helping non-Hong Kong residents apply for commercial visas. There are two commercial visas available to foreigners staying in Hong Kong.
1. Working visa
Working visas are required by non-residents employed by a Hong Kong company. We provide assistance with the completion and submission of working visa applications. There are two types of working visas:
- Employment visa - this visa type is available to a non-resident who is not a shareholder of the employer company.
- Investment visa - this type of visa is available to a non-resident who is a shareholder and director of an employing company in Hong Kong.
2. Investor visa under the Capital Investment Entrant scheme
In 2003, the Hong Kong government introduced a Capital Investment Entrant Scheme for non-residents who wish to invest at least HKD6.5 million in Hong Kong in any combination of the following investments:
- Real estate
- Listed shares
- Debt securities issued or fully guaranteed by the Government
- Hong Kong currency deposits with a bank certification
- Subordinated debt in Hong Kong currency and issued by a bank
- Approved investment under the Eligible Collect Investment Schemes
We cannot guarantee a successful application as the Immigration Department’s decision is based upon many factors. However, based upon information supplied by the employer and employee, we can advise on the likelihood of success based on past experience.
